Why Are the Ends of My Hair Straight When the Rest of It's Curly?

My hair used to be really curly. EVERYBODY I met asked me if I was mixed, literally. I've used products for curly hair but none seemed to work. I've even gone as far as getting the ends cut off.

This started a few years back. I hate my hair now because of this! Can you please help me?
