March 2010 - no haircut yet
My story, it's a strange twisted tale. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the end of November in 2008, 4 months after my retired husband and I had moved to our dream location, Hawaii. I had started work 2 months before.
Fortunately in Hawaii if you work more than 20 hours a week for a company they must make healthcare available. So December 2nd I had surgery and afterwords was told my cancer was stage 2. That meant that there would be at least 6 chemotherapy treatments and yes, I would lose my hair. Cut to the chase, had the chemo, lost the hair.
At the end of April of 2009 I waited for my hair to start to grow back. It is now May 2010. My hair is 4 inches long, but it is full of curls. My previous hair had body and I wore it in a short little care style for years.
Now I've got curls! I am 55 years old. I now get someone else's head of hair. To say I am at a loss as what to do with my hair is an understatement.
It is very humid here so I tried to super condition my hair to keep it from getting frizzy and then it started to look very thin on the top of my head. Yes I color it. I do that myself but as I haven't had hair for a year and a half I do not have anyone to cut it or give me a style.
I guess I need to look at this as a new adventure and see where it leads.
