Where can I get hold of good products in the UK?

by Julia
(UK)

Most of the good products you mention seem to be online products from overseas. I am wanting to be able to style my hair with good, curly products that will suit me. I am worried about price as money may be an issue. Do you know of any good products that are available in the UK?

Also I am concerned about my haircut. My hairdresser doesn't understand my hair and brushes it all out when it is dry which is painful and destroys my hair and once he is finished with it (he comes to my house) it is one big ball of disgusting frizz. Plus, he usually cuts it too short and last time made me look like a mushroom. I have been to a salon once and she said there was nothing wrong with my actual cut but there is still an ugly wedge in my hair that I hate.

I have 2 layers, the top one just about an inch/inch and a half shorter than the bottom layer. I am told that having no layers is bad but having too many is bad too. My top layer seems much shorter though because it seems to be curlier? From the side my top layer causes an ugly wedge over the bottom layer. This is my natural curl pattern. How can I fix my cut to make this look better? (This is not really visible on the picture, sorry)

I don't like my hair colour but is it a good idea to colour hair so thick and curly and dry in case I make it even drier?

Thanks for taking the time to read this long question!
