What cut/layers would be good for my thick, curly hair?

I am at a loss with my hair. It is incredibly thick - I have way more than my fair share of hair! However, the strands of my hair are quite fine I think. My hair is medium curly with ringlets underneath, past my shoulders.

I have slightly shorter strands around my face. I have 2 layers in my hair. The top layer is only about an inch/inch and a half shorter than my bottom layer but it looks MUCH shorter. I hope you can see the photo I have attached that demonstrates this. It causes such a giant pyramid wedge sort of thing - with a bit of extra hair hanging out of the bottom. I don't know where to get my hair cut in my area, or where to get good products from.

What should I get done to my cut / layers? Can you help?
