Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Sonia's Question

I want a brand new hairstyle that's different and exciting that suits my features and my naturally curly hair. Can you help?

Everyone tells me I'm lucky to have naturally curly hair, but sometimes I really wish I had straight hair. I see girls come to school with new hair styles and cuts and getting the compliments, and Im wishing I was them.

Anyway, my hair is just below my shoulder blades. It has soft curls, but its still very curly, and pretty thick. I want to come up with a brand new hairstyle that will suit me, my face, and will work with the hair that I have. My face is more rounded, but a tiny bit longer up and down.

Whenever I see curly hairstyles today theyre what I already have, and It's getting old. All I can do otherwise is put it up, and it's so boring! I want something new and different and exciting just for me that suits my features.

Thanks!
Sonia

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Sonia

Most people do want what they don't have. The trick is to accept what you have and embrace it! Find ways to make your hair look its best so that straight haired girls want YOUR hair!

I would suggest you find a stylist in your area who can give you suggestions for a different hair cut that will flatter your face and work with your curl.

Then, ask the stylist to show you how to style your curl in different ways, like pin curls, or have her straighten it a little then use a big curling iron to create a different type of curl!

Changing the style is fun because its not permanent - you can enjoy your curl as it was given to you and mix it up with curling iron work!

Best of Luck!
Nicole
