Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Sarah's Question

Can you suggest a good hair cut for red, really curly and extremely frizzy hair?

I have red, really really curly and extremely frizzy hair.

I found a good product to use that helps with the frizz, but I can't find a good hair cut. I can't get it too short because it curls up and it would look like I have an afro.

Please please help me!
Sarah

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Sarah

I love red hair!

I am glad you have found a good product to control your frizz.

As I am sure you have read in my other columns, the best way to help your hair grow down and not out would be to get a good stylist who can cut with your curl. Cutting with the curl helps to manage the density while enhancing your curl.

To help avoid the afro look, grow your hair as long as you can and work your product in section by section from root to end.

One styling tip to creating some length with your curl would be to attach clips on the ends of your curl as you dry it. This will give your hair a little resistance and hopefully the curl won't rebound as much.

You do need to dry the hair all the way dry because any moisture left in the hair will encourage it to shrink. Make sure you use a good leave-in conditioner before heat drying your hair.

Take Care,
Nicole
