Natasha's QuestionWhat can I do with thick curly hair that has a really tight curl?My mum's family are white Carribeans & my mum & my nan have like 'afro' hair and my hair is like 'european' I think. My hair is really thick & has a really tight curl, I want to grow it longer to make the curl looser, but nothing seems to work in my hair. Also, I find it really hard to style my hair as if I separate it, it goes really frizzy and big....(like a lion's mane). Is there anything I can do? Natasha
Nicole's Answer:Dear NatashaGrowing your hair longer to loosen the curl sounds like a good idea. To help the growing out process, you will need a good hair cut, one that cuts into your curls to remove bulk and help control the curls. (Do not let your stylist use thinning shears - this will make your hair bigger) When styling your hair: Use a product that is good for curly hair, section your hair and apply the hair lotion from root to ends, one section at a time. Then try not to toss it, touch it or mess with it until it is dry. After it is dry, take the crunchy feel out of it by pinching your curls and running your hands OVER the hair not THROUGH the hair to take the crunch out of it. The better you apply the product the more control you will have over your curls. ENJOY your curls! Nicole
