Kate's QuestionI have really really thick, long, medium tight ringlet hair. I want a change that is manageable and shorter. What should I do?I have really really thick long medium tight ringlet hair. I don't wear it down often because of this. I use gel and hairspray when I wear it down but it is still really full. I don't know what to do because I want a change that is manageable and shorter. What should I do? I want it thinner too. Kate
Nicole's Answer:Dear KateVery thick hair can be hard to manage no matter what type of curl you have. It sounds like you have beautiful curls! Here are a few suggestions to help you find a way to manage your curls in hopes to relieve some of your frustration. When you get done washing your hair do not wrap it up in a towel. Try wringing it out in the shower and towel blotting it. Apply a leave in conditioner. Then apply your styling product. Make sure you section your hair in at least 4 sections and apply your styling lotion or gel from root to end, in each section. To control the thickness of your hair, find a stylist who knows how to cut with or into the curls to eliminate bulk - using regular hair cutting shears. Never let your stylist use thinning shears or a razor on your curls. These two techniques will make your hair even bigger and more difficult to control. For another option, to get your hair out of the way, you can always check out my book Strictly Curls; it is a collection of styles for curly hair. All the looks come with step-by-step instruction on how to wear your hair up. Best of luck, Nicole
