Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Jamie's Question

How can I have smooth straight hair or full, perfectly curly hair, not this frizzy mess in between?

I have long (mid-back), thin, dark brown curly hair. If I blow dry it, it's slightly wavy and frizzy. When I use a straightening iron, it normally gets wavy around my face within a couple of hours. It also looks really flat and thin. When I diffuse it, it stays straight and flat near my roots. Some of my curls end up loose and frizzy and others are tight ringlets. Every time I scrunch it, it ends up looking different because the curls are always randomly shaped.

Any tips for having smooth straight hair or full, perfectly curly hair, not this frizzy mess in between?
Jamie

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Jamie

Styling curly hair is definitely a day to day experience. Depending on weather, time of year and product, your curl can take on a different curly pattern on a daily basis!

To help with the frizz factor when going curly, make sure you apply a water-soluble styling product, section by section and from root to ends. Use your fingers and rake the product through your hair. Then use long duckbill clips to create a little lift, placing them on their side and sliding them into the root area of your hair. Then diffuse as normal. After your hair is dry take out the clips and de-crunch your curl.

Best of luck!
Nicole
