Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Hannah's Question

My hair has really tight ringlets underneath and loose frizzy curls on top. It goes huge when I cut it short, and nothing else works. Can you help me find a new haircut?

My hair is a few inches longer than my shoulder. It has really tight ringlets underneath and loose frizzy curls on top. No matter what I use on them they never work. Even if I do what my sisters do (they have curly hair as well) it never looks as good.

It's frustrating me and for high school I really want a new haircut. I've had the same thing for as long as I can remember.

Because it's so thick and big and frizzy, when I cut it short it has no curl whatever and goes huge! I would really appreciate it if you could give me some pointers.

Thanks A Million!
Hannah

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Hannah

Combination curl can be frustrating.

There are a couple things you can do: think about getting a perm to help the top curl mirror the bottom curl. Only perm the hair that needs extra curl.

You can also do a little curling iron work. This can be more drying to your hair so make sure you use a leave in conditioner or thermal protectant product on your hair before you curl it.

You can also look at some of the other Q&A from this site on styling hair. Product application and healthy curly hair are key to minimizing frizz.

Have a great day!
