Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Emily-3's Question

I look like I have a thick wavy frizzy afro. What can I do with my hair?

My hair is thick and frizzy. Underneath it is frizzy/curly but on the top it is just wavy. I look like I have a thick/wavy/frizzy afro.

My hairdresser doesn't even know what to do with it.

Products also make my hair worse.

What can I do with my hair?
Emily-3

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Emily-3

I would recommend getting on a strict deep treatment regimen. Choose a deep treatment made for curly hair. I have mentioned many on curly-hair-styles-magazine. Take a look at those. Once your hair is conditioned your frizzy hair should be minimal.

Curly hair by nature is dry, so you always need to be moisturizing it.

Try not to wash your hair with shampoo every day, only rinse and condition. Maybe use shampoo twice a week (unless you have an oily scalp - then whenever you feel it needs it).

To work on the thickness, find a stylist who can cut with your curl. They should NOT use thinning shears on your hair! This will only make it bigger.

Good Luck!
Nicole
