Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Emily-2's Question

To brush or not to brush my thick, curly, frizzy hair?

My hair is thick, curly, and frizzy.

People say if I don't brush my hair it will look nice, but I have to brush my hair or I can't get the knots out and I end up cutting my hair from not brushing it.

What should I do?
Emily-2

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Emily-2

Depending on the density of your hair and type of curl, brushing could be a MUST!

Make sure you brush it only when it is WET, before you style you hair. You can use a brush, a wide tooth comb or your fingers. Just for kicks try each different tool and see the results in your curl.

This is how I would work brushing into my routine ...

After I wash and condition my hair I would gently dry my hair with a towel, then put in a light leave in conditioner and brush my hair.

After all the tangles are out, I'd proceed with my favorite curly hair styling product, working the product through my hair really well. Then I'd diffuse or air-dry.

In the course of the day, DO NOT brush your hair again - this will make it big and frizzy!

Good Luck,
Nicole
