Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Cindy's Question

How can I turn my mixed texture hair into well-behaved wavy hair?

I am full blood Cuban, but my hair is nothing like either one of my parents.

When wet, my hair is thin & curly. But when air dried, it is thick, frizzy and wavy with some loose curls.

I want all my hair to be wavy, so I will be able to wear it down all the time without using bobby pins or clips to hold it back.

Any ideas?
Cindy

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Cindy

If I understand your question correctly, you would like your hair to be wavy all the time? Even when it is wet?

That's the beauty of naturally curly hair - it takes on its own curl pattern.

One might suggest a relaxer to soften your curls when they are wet. But a relaxer could alter your natural curl pattern too much and your hair may look nice and wavy when wet, but when dry look too straight.

My objective would be to make your hair look its best when it's dry.

My suggestion would be to tame your curls with a great hair cut, one where the stylist cuts into or with the curls, followed with a styling gel (the product Moptop is great to try) to reduce the frizz when it's dry and wavy.

And just learn to love your curls when your hair is wet!

Best wishes,
Nicole
