Brittany's QuestionAre there any casual, simple styles for my poofy, thick, curly, out of control hair?Like most girls who've asked questions, my hair is poofy, thick, curly, and out of control!
I have tried every de-frizzing product out there, and I can't deep condition [my mom believes in only buying the essentials: gas, food, bills, and things we run out of]
I'm tired of wearing my hair in a bun all the time [and even my mom's complained about it] At the current moment, I'm trying to train my hair to lay down and not poof so much. [yet it still poofs]
I want to know if there are any styles to wear my hair for next school year. I've worn it down before and people loved it. I just need something casual, simple, and doesn't take a long time to do [I'm not very enthusiastic about taking forever to get ready for school] Brittany
Nicole's Answer:Dear BrittanyI understand only being able to purchase the necessities. However, if you save any extra money you will find it adds up quick. If you save all your change you'll have enough cash to purchase some necessary products in no time!
First on the list of necessary products is your styling gel. I would recommend Mop Top (www.moptophair.com) because it is made for curly hair, water soluble and has good control. Review some of my Q&A about application for the product for the best results.
Next, get your shampoo and conditioner. Check out the Deva Curl product. They have a great moisturizing shampoo called "Nopoo". It does not lather so be prepared. If you only use it where it is needed (on the scalp, then pull it through your hair) it will last longer.
Lastly, Get started on your deep treatment process. I recommend the Ouidad deep treatment. This is a little more pricey because of the ingredients. This works from the inside out so give it some time to notice a change in your curl.
As far as styling goes I recommend, as always, to find a stylist who knows how to cut with the curl. This will enhance your curl and help eliminate some of the density. Also, have your stylist cut a "style" into your hair. A good starting point would be angles around your face to add interest, and LONG layers. Nicole
