Blaike's QuestionWhat haircut would you suggest for a biracial girl with a heart shaped face who wants her curls to be long and controllable?Hi Nicole.
I was reading the letter you wrote to Ariel and in that letter you said to get a haircut.
Well, I am in the same boat as Ariel and I was wondering what haircut you suggest for a biracial girl with a heart shaped face who wants her curls to not be flat but long and controllable.
Thanks so much and by the way what you said in that letter helped me a lot. Blaike
Nicole's Answer:Dear BlaikeI'm glad my tips for Ariel have helped you too!
First of all for biracial hair you need to analyze your curl pattern.
If you have an "S" pattern, whether it be loose or tight, that is a good thing. If your pattern is more of a "Z" pattern it will be harder for you to create a cut that will look long and controlled. The "Z" pattern is considered more kinky and would be better off straightened or heat styled. If you have an "S" pattern you can grow your hair long and see how much control you get.
Remember to apply your product evenly from root to ends. This will help with control. I would suggest finding a stylist who can cut with your curls to help remove the bulk and enhance the curl (this kind of cut does NOT involve thinning shears).
Once you have the length and density where you like it then experiment with different layers to create fun shapes and styles.
There are some pictures on this site I think are cute layered styles with pretty tight curls. When you're looking for curly styles pay attention to the face shape of the person AND the curl shape; loose, tight, medium or combination. Find pictures that mirror your curl and face shape - that way your end result will be more attainable.
Good Luck, Nicole
