A formal updo for long, uncontrollable blonde curly hair?

Hi,

I have really uncontrollable blond curly hair to the middle of my back.

It looks great when I scrunch it and diffuse it with my head upside down and throw it to one side but I have a ball tomorrow night and would really like a formal up-do.

I've never managed to pull one off before and always just stick with my 'safe' style. I'd like a little variety.

I'd love to have your book - does anywhere in Aberdeen, Scotland stock it? I don't think an online order would be here by tomorrow ... all suggestions greatly appreciated!
