Annie's QuestionI'm tired of short hair. Any suggestions?I have very thick curly hair. Have tried several times to grow it out, but have failed at the point where it's too short to pull back but too hot, frizzy and 'big hair' to deal with in the 'growing out' process. Any suggestions? I'm tired of short hair, i look too much like a guy ... Annie
Nicole's Answer:Dear AnnieSounds like you need a good hair cut. I would love to cut your hair for you if you are ever in the Virginia/D.C. area. I work at Salon Nordine and Day Spa in Reston. 703-437-6444. There are many web sites that list salons that specialize in curly cutting. There may be one in your area. Find a stylist who can take out the bulk and heaviness without using thinning shears. (Thinning shears are the scissors with lots of little teeth, and they actually make the hair bigger. Find a stylist who can cut in the mid-shaft of the hair with the curl. Also, check out chat rooms on curly hair web sites or ask someone you see with great curls where she gets her hair done. As far as frizz goes, make sure you are using a deep treatment once a week (have your stylist analyze your hair to make sure once a week is not too often). As you probably know, curly hair tends to be dry. Adding moisture and/or protein to your hair will help fill in the holes inside your hair and, in effect, make your hair less fly-away and frizzy. You can also minimize frizz by applying your styling product section by section, from root to end. Remember to stay clear of wax based products. These will only coat and suffocate your curls. Take Care, Nicole
