Anna's QuestionMy hair simply won't hold a curl. How can I make my straight hair curly?Dear Nicole,
I have bone straight layered hair. Whenever I try to curl it (even if I leave the curlers in overnight) the curls will fall out within an hour.
I really want to curl my hair!!

Nicole's Answer:Dear AnnaSometimes the hair needs a little help to stay curly. Have you tried setting products when you curl your hair overnight? These types of product help set the curl. A light gel would work.
If you are using a curling iron, try a product with heat protection and memory.
If all else fails, I would get a body wave, a.k.a. a perm. This will give your hair a little control to keep your curl in. Perms are much more gentle than they use to be.
The size of rod you use does not have to be small. I always like to use two different sizes. I think two different size rods create a more natural look. Try a rod about the size of a quarter, in addition to one a little bigger or smaller, whichever your stylist suggests.
After your perm, setting your hair or using a curling iron should last longer.
Take Care, Nicole
