Nicole Siri's
Tips for Styling Curly Hair

Andrea's Question

I have frizzy curly hair. How can I make my curls looser, so that the style is more wavy?

I have frizzy curly hair that is a little longer than shoulder length.

How can I make my curls looser, so that the style is more wavy? The only way for me to do this is to use a blowdryer, but that seems to make my hair even more frizzy.

Help!
Andrea

Nicole's Answer:

Dear Andrea

To control the frizz get a good deep treatment and good styling product. If the hair is healthy it will be a lot more easy to achieve your styling goals.

There are two things you can try.

First, a non-thermal styling technique would be to take clips (duckbill clips) and attach the clips to the ends of your hair, all over your head. This will give resistance to your curl when drying. This will help elongate your curl. Make sure your hair is dry before taking off the clips, as moisture will encourage your natural curl to come back.

Second, you can try diffusing your curl, then using a big barrel curling iron to create the type of curl you want to see. I like a curling iron with a 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch barrel. Any bigger and you really lose the curl.

Good luck,
Nicole
