I have naturally curly hair, and I got fed up with all the faffing around I used to have to do with it back then (oh, if I'd known then what I know now!) So I ended up wearing braided dreads for about 7 years, only taking them out for a week at a time, maximum, about 3 times or so a year.
To avoid traction alopecia, I decided my hair really needed a break, so got a nice hair cut and my hair is now in fantastic condition.
HOWEVER ... I have always had a problem with volume. My hair gets weighed down and lies flat to my head, up to the bottom of my ears, then it goes into thick lustrous curls.
I ended up getting my hair cut to shoulder length and having some choppy layers put in to give it texture and stop me looking like a lampshade, but my hair STILL goes flat within an hour or two! I HATE it!
PLEASE help! Would a root perm help? I was even considering getting a loose spiral perm all over, to keep the curls in check and stop them flattening at the roots. Would there be any point in this?
Thanks!
