Short Dreads for a White Guy?

by Ricky

I'm a white guy of 32. I've had long hair since I was 16, and now I'm just so sick of it, but I don't like the idea of having short hair as it's just not me or my lifestyle as I'm into very heavy and dark music.

I've been thinking about dreads for a long time, but every time I see a white guy with dreads they look a complete mess - some of the dreads on a guy are thicker than others, and some of the hair is not even in the dread and it's straight.

I was just wondering if it's possible for a white guy to have short dreads, quite thin, not thick, that are equal thickness, and dye them blonde ... probably shaved near the bottom at the back and sides of the dreads (not skinhead though like a number 2 or something).

Do you think It would look tidy and not look like a homeless person?

A good example to me is the singer out of Rage against the Machine in the early days, but I can't find a pic on the net.

A bad example is the singer from Soulfly. Now he is mega-rich but looks like a homeless person.

I really need some help here because I really don't know what to do, and can't find any pics on the net so I can print them out and show a hairstylist. I was hoping you could help me out with some pics because I don't know where to go from here.

Thank you,

Ricky
