Every picture of celebrity hair style in this gallery tells a story, of how the face shape and the hair style of each celebrity work together to create that woman's image.
The pictures feature Martina Klein, Amanda Marcum, Christine Anu, Nikki Cox, Anne Hathaway, Anja Kling, Monica Pont, Sarah Wynter, and seven others.
In all, fifteen celebrity women and their hair styles appear in this gallery, covering all lengths (short, long and medium) and various styles, from tousled, sexy curly hair styles to afros, fashionable waves and loose, casual curls.
Eva Herzigova's look is one of casual refinement. She wears a beautifully curly, wavy medium length hair style in the first picture.
At the other end of the curl spectrum is Beatriz Rico's picture - the last photo of the gallery. Her medium length style is mega curly, a rounded, tousled explosion of dark brunette curls that reaches in to her eyes and touches her shoulders.
A narrow forehead below the rough center part widens out to the eyes and sends several curls onto her cheeks.
You'd have to call this a sexy celebrity hair style.
That's not to say that Herzigova's hair style isn't sexy. It is. Decidedly so. But in a different, celebrity picture way, as if she's posing for a catalog.
Former Miss Spain Esther Arroyo is this gallery's second celeb picture. She has very curly hair indeed, like Beatriz Rico, but her style is shorter and lifted away from the face so that her cheeks, unlike Rico's, are completely exposed.
The coloring in Arroyo's hair style is impressive, too - warm brown highlights reveal the outer curls against a darker base. She looks tousled, windswept, sun-bleached.
And yes, very sexy.
Less successful is the raised, off-center look of Alejandra Prat in the next picture. The complete exposure of her face reveals a long, diamond shape that tapers from wide cheeks to an extremely narrow chin.
The angle of her hair line, though less dramatic, tapers inwards and upwards from the cheeks.
The way her hair is massed at the top and pushed outwards in a wide, unbalanced curve only serves to exaggerate the narrowness of the lower half of her face. Harsh shadows pick out the very angle you'd find on one side of a diamond - a sharp point behind her right eye. And those same shadows make the narrowing of her cheek even more dramatic.
If the goal of a woman's hair style is to give her face the appearance of an oval, Alejandra Prat's picture of celebrity hair style is probably a very good lesson in what not to do - especially if you have a diamond shaped face.
On top of everything else, and it's probably an effect of the lighting, Alejandra Prat looks fierce in this picture, and there's an unpleasant twist to the mouth.
Thandie Newton is the picture of celebrity hair style diagonally below Prat, to the right. At a glance she would seem to have a similar overall face shape to Prat - a diamond, that is, though less dramatic in its angles.
On the other hand, her face may be heart shaped - wide at the top, pointy at the bottom.
It's hard to tell where Newton's hair line travels - and that's a good thing for a woman whose face is not a natural oval.
Newton's super curly hair is arranged in a rounded, raised style with plenty of volume at the top, gradually diminishing below the level of her eyes until it slips out of sight behind her neck.
Her hair is boosted slightly upwards at the top in a deliberate echo of her narrow chin, a forced symmetry that creates the impression of an oval extending all the way round from crown to chin and back again.
Three thick curls dangle over her left eye, disguising her hair line and the width of her forehead. On her right, curls and shadows describe a smooth, rounded curve from her brow to the central curl.
This celebrity doesn't want to sharpen the angle of her jaw line any further, so she carefully organizes plenty of curls to fan outwards beside her cheeks, countering her jaw's inward taper with their own outward thrust.
Alyssa Milano and Frankie Rayder each present a picture of celebrity hair style that takes full advantage of long hair and the flexibility it allows.
Alyssa Milano has no great problems with face shape. She'd have to go well out of her way to make her face unattractive, and she's not going there!
Instead, she tends to those details that enhance her looks. Mostly, this celebrity rounds off the edges of her forehead. It's wide.
But her cheeks don't narrow sharply towards the chin, and she isn't heart shaped. On the contrary, Alyssa Milano's cheeks travel down more or less in a straight line. Then her chin does its own thing, poking out suddenly like a cute little promontory.
If it wasn't for that chin, her face would probably be a rectangle. As it is, with a bit of work on the wide, square forehead, and photos that show her at an angle rather than front on, she makes a pretty good picture of celebrity hair style.
Frankie Rayder is a model whose hair styles range from wavy to very curly indeed. The lines of her face tend to be sharp, like a diamond, and in this gallery her long wavy hair is arranged using techniques that work for other celebrity diamonds, like Jennifer Aniston.
Rayder is photographed here in three-quarter view, which automatically minimises the effect of her natural hair line.
At this angle her hair appears to be parted in the middle, but it's not. The part is on her left, with an upward and outward sweep on that side that diverts attention from the real hairline below. On her right, hair falling directly from the part obscures the hair line, narrows the cheek and confuses the watcher's eye about where the middle of her face is.
Effectively, the apparent centre of her face is shifted sideways. This illusion neutralize the impact of a hair line that tapers upwards from the widest part of her face - the cheeks.
It's clearly Frankie Rayder in this picture of celebrity hair style, not Jennifer Aniston. But both celebrities use the same hair style techniques to overcome similar issues of face shape.
No picture of celebrity hair style is ever just about a hair style. It's always a picture of what the hair style shows - or doesn't show - of the celebrity woman's face.
