I have had curly hair all of my life. It started to really curl when I was about 5. It was very cute and very ringlety. It stayed curly throughout my high school years. I used to long to have straight hair and would spend hours letting my best friend blow dry and then straighten it with a curling iron.
When I was about 16 I thought I would try something new and different with my hair. So I went and got it trimmed like normal and the lady suggested I get wisps of bangs. Well, at the time it sounded like a good idea. I had these really short pieces of hair that she had straightened and it looked okay at the salon.
I went home and washed my hair and to my surprise those "wisps" of bangs went all curly, so it looked like someone had drawn little pieces of hair with a marker, curling and sticking out everywhere!!! They were so short that it was almost impossible to get them to lie down with hairspray. It did not look good and it took a good couple of years to grow back out to normal.
I have had several people mess up my hair throughout the years and I am very cautious on whom I let cut my hair, so as to avoid another fiasco.
I have curly hair naturally but after the birth of my son a little over a year ago my hair started to lose its curl. It is not completely straight, but it's more than just wavy. My curls lost the tightness though.
I have learned to live with curly hair, but it took me 20+ years. It also helps if you can find some really good products for your hair.
