My Red Curly Hair

I'm fifteen and I have red curly hair. Some days I love it, others I hate it. There are some days where my hair just doesn't cooperate with me and I don't like it.

I love my hair straight, but I am beginning to see the curls getting damaged from me straightening it too much.

Is there any way I can prevent my hair from being damaged but still straighten it on occasion?
