Starting around middle school I got made fun of for my curly hair, because it was big, poofy, and frizzy. I got made fun of by the prettier, more popular girls with nice clothes, make up, and beautiful straight hair. They told me that my hair looked like a rats nest.
One day they got fed up and brought a flat iron to school to make me over, along with some other girls. They laughed the whole time standing behind me, doing my hair because they thought it was "ratty". When they were finished I looked in the mirror and was shocked at how wonderful it looked!
From then on I started flat ironing my hair more and more, to the point where I did it almost everyday. It got to be too much work doing my hair all the time. Sometime later I cut a lot of my hair off and kept it that way to make it easier and less time consuming.
Now I am going to be a junior in high school, and during the last few months of my sophomore year I decided to put down the iron. Now I want my long, curly hair back!
Im going to focus on keeping my natural hair in good condition, not faking it by using heat and product. I do like my hair straight, but I am committed to styling it that way only occasionally.
Now all my friends think my hair is really cute, not boring and straight like everyone else's.
I am happy with it as well.
