Our search for long curly hair prom styles, like our earlier quest for pictures of curly hair for prom nights, has brought back a gallery of celebrity women with long curly hair styles perfect for the prom.
Not because these women were actually pictured at a prom, but because the long curly hair styles they wear could easily be transported into any prom setting.
The pictures below demonstrate that long curly hair can be shown off in different ways at any prom, formal or up-market party occasion. You don't have to go for the traditional updo. Long, loose curly hair styles are just as fashionable at the prom - and classic styles like these have the added advantage of being timeless.
What does that timelessness mean if you wear one of these long curly hairstyles to your prom?
It means when you look at your prom photos years from now you won't say "Oh my gosh! Look at that hair!" with a squeal of surprise, and mingled amazement and horror that you could ever have considered such a hair style chic.
Instead you'll think "Wow! I looked pretty good that night, didn't I?"
And wander over to the mirror just to see if you've still got it. Which you probably have, if you've kept your long curly hair.
Which brings us back to our gallery of long curly hair prom styles.
Valeria Mazza is one of two women who feature twice each in this gallery. Her first picture is number two in the top row, where she wears her luxuriant growth of curly, wavy blonde hair swept over one side, right over the top of her head.
This super-glam technique is perfect for proms and formals. The swept-over look was made to complement bare shoulders, long earrings and form-hugging gowns. But Mazza leaves some of her hair to bring forward as a fringe - bangs - and another wave to sweep behind her ear. The technique is simple, the effect is breathtaking.
The second of Valeria Mazza's long curly hair prom styles is the last picture in the gallery. It's quite different. Her hair is swept up from the forehead and falls more or less symmetrically, though one side is pressed behind the ear and the other pulls forward onto the shoulder.
By the way ... on our Hairstyles - Long Curly Hair page, you can find Valeria Mazza wearing another long curly hair prom style that's simply stunning. (In the gallery on that page, she's the fifth picture in the top row).
Back to our prom hair style gallery below.
Our second double appearance is by Noemie Lenoir, who can be found with her super curly long hair in the middle row (last picture) and the bottom row (middle picture).
Like Valeria Mazza's duo, Lenoir's two long curly hair prom styles are quite different from each other.
The first has a more consciously glamorous look - her curly hair is teased out for extra volume and lightness, with the front gathered in a single, simple braid that reaches across her forehead and falls past her cheek to the shoulder.
Compare this with Lenoir in the bottom row - her curly, corkscrew hair in all its natural beauty, tumbles in symmetry to touch her bare shoulders, where thin straps and pendant necklace echo its graceful, vertical movement. Her hair looks far more substantial than it really is.
Looking at these four long curly hair prom styles, it's hard to imagine what more could be done to capture the prom limelight. But look no further than the top row and four new prom hair possibilities present themselves.
Picture one shows Gisele Bundchen with long, curly, exotically wavy hair falling over one eye and meandering loosely across her shoulders and chest. The tousled informality of this style is the perfect foil to Bundchen's simple black gown and the extravagant expanses of skin that it joyfully reveals.
At Bundchen's throat, a silver choker confirms both the formal nature of the occasion - a prom, for instance - and the provocative note of the hair style and gown.
Long curly hair prom styles don't come much sexier than this!
Unless, perhaps, you consider Ana Beatriz Barros at the end of the top row. Recalling the style in Valeria Mazza's first picture, Ana's hair sweeps across the top and tumbles over one eye. But as she angles her head and lifts her chin those long, luxuriant curls create a dramatic backdrop for her face, her throat and her shoulder.
That's another advantage of long curly hair prom styles. They move. You can change your look with a tilt of the head.
Beside Barros Estella Warren wears another tousled prom style, her long blonde curly hair tumbling towards another simple, revealing black gown. A silver necklace echoes both the simple curves of the gown and the descending movement of Warren's hair.
And in the middle of the top row Amy Lemons teases her long hair back, clear of her face completely but always framing it - a curtain, a cloud, a storm of startling, prom night curls.
The long curly hair prom styles don't stop there. We haven't mentioned Laetitia Casta, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shannon Tweed and Charlize Theron, appearing in that order in the middle row. The long curly hair styles of these women would do justice to any dance, formal, prom or homecoming.
Nor have we touched on Inma Del Moral and Kate Winslett in the bottom row. Their hair styles are exotic, luxurious, and utterly different from each other. But long curly hair prom styles they both most definitely are.
Perhaps we should finish with the unknown blonde woman who, with arms defiantly crossed, dares you to ignore the lengths she's gone to, quite literally, to make her long curly hair style - and everything else about her - a highlight of the prom.
And she would be hard to ignore, indeed, because she has one of those long curly hair prom styles that urgently, insistently, irresistibly demand attention.
It wouldn't be a prom without them.
