The lights are on but ... somebody's home alone. And they're playing dress-ups. And like a small child who draws her face as a circle and her hair as something not connected to it, Jessica Simpson doesn't perceive the relationship between face and hair style. Hair is one thing. Face is another. So Jessica Simpson with curly hair is much the same as Jessica Simpson with straight hair or Jessica Simpson with wavy hair. A curly hair style, any hair style, is just something she puts on that doesn't relate to the rest of her. So Jessica Simpson with curly hair could be very attractive. And in a couple of the pictures here she is. But they're accidents, these occasions where Jessica Simpson with curly hair looks great. She doesn't learn from them. The opportunity is lost. Far from recognizing the potential for curly hair to improve her looks, she slavishly pursues an open face style of hair arrangement that doesn't suit her. Jessica Simpson's face is a slab. There's no other way to describe it. Look at her full on, as you see her in the second last picture in the gallery. Her face is this huge rectangle, and more often than not she insists on revealing it. In so many pictures of Jessica Simpson with curly hair you see a vast expanse of featureless skin with a mouth too wide, a chin too far below it, and eyes set too far apart and darkly outlined just for good measure. At the top looms an endless forehead that she and her minders rarely have the sense to disguise. She could do so much to disguise it. And she'd benefit so much if she did. The last picture in the gallery is an example of what Jessica Simpson with curly hair could be, if she applied the softening virtues of curly hair to the problem of her face. The camera angle is fortunate - see the difference two pictures to the left - but with curly hair flung wildly across her cheek and brows, everything about her is soft. Look at the middle picture in the top row. This, too, is Jessica Simpson with curly hair, but she doesn't look like Jessica Simpson at all. If anything, she recalls Elle MacPherson. What's so different in this picture of Jessica Simpson with curly hair? Why is she so much more attractive here than in the other pictures? Well for one thing, that immense forehead is concealed. Instead of her habitual center part she's divided her hair on the right and swept it down on a sharp angle, across her forehead to the edge of her eye. A curl swings round the eye and back onto the cheek, and suddenly her face is not a slab. It's rounded at the top, and soft curls break up the edges of her cheeks. It's an incredible transformation. Suddenly, Jessica Simpson with curly hair looks soft, fluffy, feminine. Even her eyes look as if someone's in there, and her smile is real. The picture at the end of the middle row gives another unusually attractive glimpse of Jessica Simpson with curly hair. Again her face is altered by the hair reaching down on an angle. It rounds and narrows her forehead, and decreases the width of her face beside her eyes. She could look like this all the time but she doesn't. Why not? Because Jessica Simpson doesn't know what to do with with curly hair. With any hair. She doesn't understand that it's part of her face. Jessica Simpson with curly hair is a string of lost opportunities marked by a handful of happy accidents. She looks good sometimes, but mostly she blows it.
