I have a lot of clients who want cute short hairstyles but there are not many resources for them to go to. I am currently working on putting together a collection of short curly hair styles for women like yourself, to take to their stylist.
There is a way to cut your hair so it grows down instead of out. Find a stylist who cuts into the mid-shaft region of the hair, and cuts with the curl, not against it. This allows the curl to move more freely and eliminates the bulk. I do this type of cutting; however, I live in Seattle and work in Virginia every 8-10 weeks.
You might check out naturallycurly.com, as they have a site where you can check out stylists across the nation and see what you can find in your area.
Best of Luck,
Nicole

You're not alone by: noely
Omg you're not alone! Today I just got my hair cut up to my shoulder. It looks ugly!
My hair is very, very thick and naturally curly but my curls didn't curl cause my hair is too short. I put mousse and hair spray in it. It looks great, but I need to add way more mousse and hair spray in the back. IDK Y.
Or I can also straighten it. It looks really good too!!!!!!!!!!!
I am only 11 turning 12 soon and I have to go to school in 2 days. I think on Monday I will straighten my hair, then on Tuesday I will put mousse in it - yeeeeeeeaaaahhh!
Well hope I helped!!!!!!!!!!!!

You Aren't Alone! by: Curly Hair Girl.
Hey there. I have the same problem as you! I consistently straighten my hair. My hairdresser told me to embrace the curl. I didn't like that idea because my face doesn't suit curly hair.
BUT, if you get the right style, you will have lovely hair. I have hair that barely touches my shoulders, and my little ringlets look good because of the different layers.
I am younger than you, so your style will of course, be different, and designed to fit you. I hope I was a bit of help!
