Get a big curler iron and use that. Maybe get some layers but don't cut your bangs short or else they will be all over the place. Trust me, okay, I know. It will give you some volume and more bounce! Good luck!!!!!!!!!
I hope I was of some help to you!!!!!! My mom went through this before so I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I think you could go shorter!
You have great hair and a great face!
I would cut your hair a little longer than your shoulders, so when it dries it hits you around your shoulder line. Put some longer layers in and a little movement around the face to lift the weight line that will be created if you decide to go shoulder length.
Another way to get a different look with your curl would be to use hot rollers on dry day old hair. This changes the curl pattern until you wash your hair. You can also try a big barrel curling iron say 1 to 1 1/2 inch barrel. This will break up your curl pattern and give it a softer curl!
"Mixing it up" is fun to do but remember to be patient with yourself and allow extra styling time to practice with the curling irons!
Best Wishes,
Nicole

Hey, I also have had the same do for 15 years. I finally got up the courage to cut. My husband told me never to go back long, he loved it.
I cut 8 inches off. Left it long enough to still put it up in a pony or up do. I layered the length but only slightly, my bangs about 3 to 5 inches at an angle surrounding my face.
My only problem was finding different products for frizz, conditioning and a new 1" curling iron for bangs. Takes me longer to do my hair but I love it. So worth it. People didn't even recognize me.
