I Need a Change for My Hair! Any Ideas!?!

Heyy! I am a teenager who is into punk rock and funky styles. But ... I have curly hair.

My friends all have straight hair and can just cut it and brush it into something awesome. I am looking for something I can wash and make it REALLY easily into something funky, but socially acceptable. Any ideas?

Any time I look for pictures I end up with really dumb hair cuts that take HOURS to style and that are really quite strange cuz you can't walk out of your house like that!

Any ideas?

I also want to dye purple in there some how, so any ideas on that would be great too.
