Does anyone else feel the same way? Hair dressers have the experience to cut the hair, but I have lived with my hair for 40 years and I know how I want it to be cut.
My hair cannot be cut as if it were straight. When it is wet it looks straight. It must be dry/misted when being cut. My hair needs weight and cannot be cut on a vertical angle. In fact my hair does its best when specific chunks are cut at one time vs cutting the hair evenly straight across.
I know this goes against what most stylists are taught, and I do not think I am more "expert" in hair cutting techniques, but I have 40 years' experience with my particular hair and I just want it cut the way I ask without being intimidated or apologetic.
I always considered my hair to be frizzy rather than referring to it as curly and never thought to ask if someone has training in cutting curly hair. However, after reading these posts I am going to begin doing some research.
