How do I eliminate the problem of thick curly hair?

Hello,

I am a 17 year old guy with extremely thick short curly hair. The problem is that since I have short hair, the curls are not completely curly but they are halfway curly!! I also really hate my thick hair and want to keep my hair short.

How can I reduce the thickness of my hair? And could you please show me some hair styles that could suit my situation (meaning short, removing the curls)?
