Kate,

There is not a cut that I know of that can make your tight curl softer.

There is, however, a chemical softener. This takes your curl pattern and lengthens it. I have clients with your curl type who like the effect of softening their curl. It is basically using a chemical straightening cream, only not combing as long or hard. You don't want it straight, just softened.

If you're not interested in chemicals because of drying out your hair (even more) you can use a curling iron. Try different sizes of barrels and see what look works best.

Make sure to use a good deep treatment every week to keep your hair healthy. I like the Mop Top, Ouidad, and Deva Curl conditioners.

Best Wishes,

Nicole
