Up until I was about 11, my hair was stick straight! Then it got frizzy, and when I got to high school I had beautiful curls. Of course, I hated them and so I wore my hair up in a bun every single day. When I was 16 I cut off 10 inches to donate to Locks of Love, and this is what I got! Actually, this picture was taken on a windy day so normally it's curlier. It looks mostly wavy here.
In order to keep my hair from looking really flat up top, I keep it short, and the back is stacked. I shampoo a few days a week and condition EVERY day. I only comb it when I'm in the shower and it is soaking. When I get out, I squeeze as much water out as I can, then apply about a teaspoon amount of gel, and half as much smoothing cream. My number one advice is to use all organic, chemical-free products to minimize dehydration and chemical damage.
Most days (especially when I get compliments) I love my hair, or at least tolerate it. But some days I really do just want to shave it all off! Having curly hair is unique and something you have to learn to love, care for, and appreciate.
