Dayna's Curlz
My name is Dayna, I am 28 years old and I have very long natural curly hair. It has taken me many years to "perfect" my hair styling regimen, but after all the hard work I must admit it's worth it!
Like many other natural curly girls I loathed my hair when I was young because it was such a pain to do and I couldn't do something crazy and different on a whim. And, of course, the summer time presented unique challenges like swimming! I never wanted to get my hair wet because it took a lot of time and product to get it done and I was so afraid of the electrocuted look that was sure to happen once it dried.
I've always told people that my hair was naturally frizzy, and it was the product that made it look healthy. I guess I still think that's pretty true because I look like a fuzz ball after a hard workout or a trial run with some bad product. But after my 28 years with this hair I have learned to love it because it suits me, and whenever I get the itch to do something crazy and different, I look to color (like hot pink highlights) instead of a cut because I too have been the mushroom head. No thanks, no haircut! Just fun layers that make a beautiful cascade of curls when pulled into a ponytail.
For my style I use a good conditioner and leave a little bit in after a cool rinse, then I get the tangles out and hit it with a small amount of conditioning mousse and strong hold no residue gel and bend over and blow it out while gently scrunching. Once it's half way dry I spritz a scrunching spray and diffuse.
When it's dry I stand upright and place it how I want it that day.
Also, I don't wash my hair daily - only about every 3rd day. During the day if it needs revamping, I wet my hands with water and work it through my hair (it seems to reactivate the product). This process takes me about 25 minutes on wash day and about 5 minutes the other 2 days that I only revamp.
