Curly long hair styles move with mysterious grace, and have the kind of silhouette that other hair styles can't begin to imitate.
Impenetrable one moment, like a thick and tangled forest, long curly hair will suddenly float up as if ready to fly away on the faintest breath of wind.
Delicate lacework patterns dance on the edges, drifting strands of hair surround a woman's face with a halo of captured light.
You can't buy a look like that.
But if you're lucky enough to have been born with curly hair, then the whole mysterious, beautiful and exotic world of curly long hair styles is your own to explore.
If you're looking for ideas for curly long hair styles, the pictures in our photo gallery might appeal. Several of these styles are very curly indeed, and mysterious, and alluring ... like the very first picture in the top row.
But we have some not-quite-so curly long hair styles as well, hair styles that would probably be called wavy if you were in a mood to split hairs. Long wavy hair, of course, is a whole sub order of curly long hair styles.
The fourth picture in the middle row, for instance, shows a hair style that's about as sexy as hair styles can get, looping down in long fluid waves that catch the light for a moment and plunge into darkness again, emerging somewhere else, further down or out to the side, with a sinuous, glowing highlight.
The picture in the middle of the top row shows something different again - a long hair style that combines wavy and very curly hair textures.
This exotic long hair style makes the most of both curly and wavy hair types. Waves of light and shadow pour down from the top of this model's head and fly into the air before bursting onto her shoulders in glittering curls of shattered, sparkling light. And they continue down her back like a foaming sea of curls.
Could anyone's eyes not be drawn to a wavy, curly long hair style like this?
Sadly, there are stylists who believe they can do better than nature when it comes to curly long hair styles.
You'll find an example in the first picture of the bottom row. This style, like the curly wavy example above, is a mixture of hair textures, but it represents an artificial, ill-advised and ugly disruption of the beauty that nature intended.
On the left of this photo, at the back of the woman's hair, you can see the delightfully curly shapes she started with before the stylist got to her. But as your eyes scan right, the entire hair style becomes a disaster. The front has been straightened, the ends have been cooked and sliced and diced and the whole thing is like a dog's breakfast.
It's inconceivable that any stylist could consider this abomination to have enhanced their client's appearance. Even the highlights, such as they are, look sickly and unnatural.
This dreadful creation is exactly the sort of hair style that dates quickly. It offers nothing of substance, and destroys beauty in the name of novelty.
How much more stunning, how much sexier in every way, are the classic curly long hair styles you'll find in this same gallery?
Consider the long hair curly worn by the gorgeous brunette in sunglasses and ski gear in the very next picture. Check out actress Halle Berry (the last picture in the gallery), and the beautiful blonde model in the picture immediately above Berry.
Not to mention the red blonde girl in the second row (second picture), and the blonde-haired woman in the middle of the bottom row whose curly long hair bursts out from beneath her cap.
Not one of these naturally curly long hair styles needed any jumped-up stylist's textural interference.
When you already have the eye-magnet of natural, deliciously curly long hair, why would you try to change it?
To improve on it?
Not likely! Because curly long hair styles rule! Naturally!
