I have curly hair but don't know how to style it when I want to put it up. Could you please help by putting some demonstrations on your site?
Thanks.

I have naturally curly long hair and am looking for easy ways to style it for everyday wear.
I don't like to wear it down all the time and I just want some new ideas to try during the day.
Do you have some easy ideas?
Elise
Many of my clients have asked the very same question. As a solution I wrote Strictly Curls, so my clients and curly women like yourself can have a styling resource to draw upon day after day.
Strictly Curls is a collection of 14 different ways to wear your curly hair up! I teach you how to do each style through step-by-step photos and written text.
There are also sections on bobby pinning and accessories, as well as helpful tips through out the book.
There is a sneak peek of one of the looks in the book on curly-hair-styles-magazine entitled: Tired of a Pony Tail?
You can also find a couple styles on my website. You'll find a link near the top of the page, in my answer to Maria's question (she's the girl with gorgeous, extremely curly blonde hair :)
Thanks for your interest and I know the book will help!
Enjoy,
Nicole
I need to cut my hair and I have no idea what cut would suit me, especially as there isn't any stylist in my town who knows what to do with curly hair :C
If anyone knows any good ways to style curly hair in other ways than just leaving it down please tell me.
Thanks =)

Accessories
Bangs really are a bad idea : /
I suggest using cute headbands and such to try different styles. Recently, I've been doing low, side ponytails, which are really easy and cute. I have about the same type of hair as you, maybe a bit more curly.
Same deal!
Ugh. I'm in the same position. I have the same hair as you do and I'm so sick of not being able to have bangs or anything. I think I'm going to get bangs and then be really obsessed with straightening my bangs despite having the rest of my hair curly.
My hair is down to my waist, brown and curly. I need a style idea for an up do.
Can you help?
Thanks
Tina
Finding an updo do for very long hair can be a little tricky. Luckily you came to the right place.
The book Strictly Curls was written especially for you.
In the book there are the Victorian, Hestia, Aphrodite, Knotty Princess and about two other looks that would work with your hair length.
With each look comes with a before and after picture, step-by-step photos and written instructions on how to create the look.
It's a great resource for up styles because the book has tons of pictures of curly hair! Also, I have included tips on bobby pinning. As I am sure you know, the longer your hair the larger the bobby pin you need to hold your hair up.
You can pick up the book on Barnes and Noble.com or www.borders.com or on my site, www.strictlycurls.com.
Take Care,
Nicole
I really hope you respond to me. I have naturally curly medium length hair.
You have some really cute styles on your web site but I need to know how to create those styles. How can I find out?
The only way I can do my hair now is wear it down. I would like to do something casual but different and pretty. I want my husband to like my hair!
Mother of 3
To learn how to do some of the looks in Strictly Curls , check out the three curly looks on this site (see above for the page). Practise those styles, and if you like them you can pick up a copy of the book and have full instructions for all 14 looks :)
Best of luck, Nicole
Are there different styles to do with curly hair, other than having it down like always?

I have two inches past shoulder length hair. Light brown and curly. After I get out of the shower and brush it, it looks really curly, but I don't know what I can ever do with my hair. I need some styles. Can you help?

Hi Emilee,
with shoulder length hair there are quite a few options for updos and half up styles. Near the top of this page you'll find a link to my book: Strictly Curls (see above), which showcases 14 different ways to wear your curly hair up.
You can read how to create three of those styles right now on this site (see the link above). The page includes pictures and full how to instructions for all three hairstyles.
Best of luck, Nicole

Help! I wanna know what I can do for more styles than just down.
PS: My hair is short.
Katie

Hi Katie,
your options for updos and half up styles are limited if your hair length is around your ears and shorter.
With your length, the Twisted Back is the only hairstyle I can suggest. You'll find pictures and step by step instructions for the Twisted Back right here on this site.
If you're getting tired of your short hair I suggest either playing with the color or growing it out!
Best of luck, Nicole
Hello curly friends, I need your help!
I have gorgeous long red hair, all natural, but can't find anything to do with it. Yeah it looks great down but when it needs to go up it's in a boring ponytail.
I need a young, funky, easy to do hairstyle perfect for my hair, but I have silly baby hairs at my temples too short to get in a ponytail.
if you have any ideas of styles I can try I would really appreciate it :D
Thank you x

Hello,
Funny you should ask ... it so happens my book Strictly Curls (see above) has 14 different looks to wear your long curly hair pulled up.
On this website you'll discover three looks (see above) from the book. They come with photos and full how-to instructions.
You could try the Twisted Back look to help with the baby hairs. Make sure you use a good gel before twisting the hair back to help control them a bit. Then, try the Victorian. Hey, you could even put the two looks together!
Have fun. The options are endless - it just takes a little practice and patience.
Best of luck, Nicole
I have really uncontrollable blond curly hair to the middle of my back.
It looks great when I scrunch it and diffuse it with my head upside down and throw it to one side but I have a ball tomorrow night and would really like a formal up-do.
I've never managed to pull one off before and always just stick with my 'safe' style. I'd like a little variety.
I'd love to have your book - does anywhere in Aberdeen, Scotland stock it? I don't think an online order would be here by tomorrow ... all suggestions greatly appreciated!
Bex
Ordering over the internet is really the only way to get Strictly Curls internationally, unless you're in Australia (Curly Hair Styles Magazine has a small stock on hand for local customers).
I wish I could help you for your ball. Maybe you could get an idea off my site, www.strictlycurls.com - I have two styles you can look at there, as well as the three looks already available here with free instructions (see above) - the Victorian, the Twisted back and the Doubletake.
Have fun at the ball!
Nicole
I was wondering if you have any hair style ideas for updos.
My hair is longer now given this was almost a year ago. If you could keep the picture private it would be appreciated thank you. I hope you email back cause I am nervous sending this pic on.
Looking for any color ideas or how to make it look better. Please be kind. I do not take good photos ...
Raylene
You have beautiful color and great curls!
For color I would only enhance what you have. You could do a low light or high light 1 to 3 shades darker or lighter. It really depends on what you are looking for.
Staying 1 to 3 shades in your natural color will just enhance what you have. I would foil highlight the color. This gives a more natural look. For this technique I would definitely see a professional.
I love it! You have my favorite color of hair!
The length of your hair is great for up-dos. The layers, however, do limit you a little bit. But it seems from your pictures that you have a handle on putting it up.
I would recommend the Frenchy and the Double Take looks out of my book Strictly Curls. When you have mastered those looks, I would try the Twisted Up and the Princess.
I highly recommend checking out the book. You can get a sneak peak inside the book on my web site: www.Strictlycurls.com! Your local book store may carry it as well.
Best Wishes,
Nicole
My hair is medium length getting longer every day. Until I get it cut I'm stuck with curly hair. I need some updo hairstyles for school. I was hoping you could help. I'm 14 and still learning okay, lol, so don't criticize.
Unfortunately my scanner is broken so I won't have any pics at this time, but my hair is shoulder length and dark brown. It's naturally curly. Can you help please!? Thx
Haley
Haley,
yes, I can help! I wrote Strictly Curls just for girls like yourself!
The book has 14 different looks that you can do on your own hair. I walk you through each look step-by-step with pictures and written text. Check it out on this website or strictlycurls.com.
Enjoy, Nicole
I am looking for a big updo that makes my curls look absolutely jaw dropping fabulous.
I have long curly hair which, when straight, reaches my butt, but is mid back length when in its natural curly state. (I don't cut my hair, I'm Pentecostal.)
I posted a pic to show my face type, which I don't know because when it comes to my hair and facial area I am fashionally retarded. I am finally coming to terms with my hair and have realized that rather than work against my hair, working with it is easier.
I would like some pictures because I want to show my stylist what I want. Also my dress is going to be strapless and I'm going to have a choker if that helps any.
Everybody loves my curls! I want everybody to be downright jealous when they see me :]
And me to actually look my age. 18.
Not 15.
Thank you.

I am also pentecostal and I don't cut my hair. There's a lot of great things you can do with long curly hair ...
