Curly hair style is back!

Join the curly women who are putting the Style back in Hair Style.

Are you trapped in a ponytail?

Now is the time to ditch all those products you don't need and all the hair habits you've developed over the years, and embrace your naturally curly nature.

And it's not for reasons of fashion alone that that you need to look at curly hair in a different light.

If you treat it well, giving it the few basic things it needs and leaving it free to develop its own style, your hair, curly and grateful, will give you two fantastic things you wouldn't have dreamt possible - the happiest, healthiest hair you could ever wish to have, and a beautiful hair style that's curly and looks after itself with minimal intervention.

Could you ask your hair to do more than that?

There's a simple reason behind the ability of naturally curly hair to develop into a great looking curly hair style.

The reason?

Less is more.

That doesn't mean less hair, of course!

What it does mean is less handling, less treatment, less product abuse, less physical abuse, less of everything you normally do to your hair.

Give your hair the basics and leave it to look after the curly style itself.

To look its best, curly hair needs vitamins, proteins, minerals, all the elements you receive from a healthy, balanced diet.

And moisture! Lots of moisture! That's because hair that's curly stands away from your scalp, and misses out on all the natural oils your hair follicles produce.

Then when you use shampoo you strip out anything good that might have managed to reach your hair shafts.

In the process you dehydrate your scalp, as well, and damage your hair follicles.

Lack of moisture and of sebum, the hair's natural protective covering, leaves your curly hair open to further damage by wind, sun, heat, cold, and air conditioning. They're all deadly for unprotected curly hair.

It's hard, under these circumstances, to develop a hair style that works, a curly one that looks good. And the more damage your hair sustains, the further away moves any idea of wearing a hair style based on curly hair.

That's why, over a long period of time, most women gave up all attempts to maintain a real curly hair style. It was easier - no, it wasn't easier, but it was less infuriating, and less frustrating - to hide curly hair in ponytails or change its visible nature completely by straightening it.

But straightening means not only abandoning a hair style that's curly in the present, but jeopardizing your hair's very health in the future.

The ingredients in hair straighteners, the so-called relaxers, are death for curly hair. There's no "relaxing" going on.

Far from simply easing the tension in your curls, which presumably the word relaxer is meant to imply, hair straightening compounds completely destroy the bonds inside your hair. They wipe out not only your curls, but the very stuff that holds your hair together.

Do that often enough and you'll be saying goodbye, not just to the prospect of a curly hairstyle, but quite possibly to your hair.

There's no way back for the bits of your hair that have been relaxed. They have to grow out or, as often happens, break off.

That's why it's so important, if your hair is naturally curly, that you recognise, acknowledge and embrace your hair's true nature, and let it develop its own curly hair style. You're not doing it just for the sake of fashion. You're doing it for your hair's sake and your own.

Here's a page that will help you embrace your curly nature and transition from relaxed to natural hair.
