More FAQs like Nicole's Recommended Curly Hair Products

What products do you recommend for curly hair?

I am happy to say there are many products on the market for curly hair these days.

To list a few products to look into: Mop Top, Ouidad, Curlisto, Deva Curl - all of these products are made to treat curly hair and will have ingredients that will benefit your curls.

Products that I really like are: Devacurl, Moptop, Ouidad, Curlisto.

I especially like the Deva Curl line.

Curly Hair Products - Styling Gel

First on the list of necessary products is your styling gel. MopTop, Ouidad and Curlisto are all product lines that carry a nice styling gel that will define and control the curl.

The styling product I LOVE right now is Moptop (moptophair.com). It is soft, water soluble and made for curly hair. Moptop has good control and leaves the curl defined.

Kelly Forman, the creator of Moptop, has developed a line for kids called Fuzzy Ducks - a very appropriate title!

In humid weather look for a styling product with humidity control. I would recommend climate control gel from Ouidad.com to help control your curl in humid conditions.

Next, get your shampoo and conditioner.

Curly Hair Products - Shampoo

Deva Curl have a shampoo that I love called Nopoo. It has really helped the condition of my hair.

Nopoo is very moisturizing to the hair and I highly recommend it. The ingredients help encourage your curl.

Deva Curl Nopoo shampoo will not lather so you need to be ready for this. It feels like putting conditioner on your hair.

There is no lather because the product contains no sodium laurel sulfate. This ingredient, and others like it, are what make shampoos bubble and lather.

When you use "Nopoo" focus the product on the scalp which is what it is intended for. After massaging it around the entire scalp area pull it through the hair. If you only use Nopoo this way it will last longer.

Curly Hair Products - Conditioner

Apply a good leave-in conditioner before you add your styling gel. Ouidad Balancing Rinse Conditioner is a light leave in conditioner that I like.

Lastly, get started on your deep treatment process.

Curly Hair Products - Deep Treatment

I really like the Ouidad deep treatment. This is a little more pricey because of the ingredients.

Follow the instructions on the bottle precisely. Do this religiously for a month and see if your frizz is less. It should be if in fact your hair is frizzy and not wiry and coarse.

The Ouidad Deep Treatment works from the inside out, so give it at least a month (preferably two months) to notice a change in your curl.
