For some it might have been just the wrong style or the wrong time, but for many women it's an inescapable reality that short hair doesn't suit them.
But that applies to all hair types, not just curly.
If curly hair itself caused that much trouble, and rewarded its owners so poorly, that would make the whole curly hair picture short lived. It wouldn't last long at all.

Still, if there was list of well known women or celebrity types whose short curly hair always looks wonderful in pictures, it might be quite a short list.
Not every face can be flattered by short hair. And not every woman who could get away with it, does choose to flaunt her face beneath a short hair cut.
Some women, of course, seem to have things very easy. Their hair always looks good, and they move from long to medium to short hair cuts and back again with such ease, and such speed and frequency, that you might almost suspect the hair you're seeing isn't always theirs.
Still, there's nothing wrong in principle with hair extensions and wigs - especially if they look good, look natural, and the raw materials aren't from exploited third world populations.
But that's another story.
Back to the short curly hair list.
If it did exist, Charlize Theron and Noemie Lenoir would have their places securely booked on the curly hair picture short list. Both of these women, the South African actor and the French model, are brilliant ambassadors for curly hair.
Theron and Lenoir show off curly hair in the most attractive ways, whether it's long, short or medium length. They both appear in curly hair picture short styles on this page.
Noemie Lenoir is quite a rare model in one sense - she seems to escape the ugly designs of those fashion prima donnas who try to make their models look as dreadful as possible on the catwalks and runways of the world.
Somehow they seem content to let her be herself. Apart from the make up and clothes, the teams of cosmeticians and photographers and agents and stuff like that.
Perhaps even haute couture fashion designers can learn to respect and value something as simple and beautiful as naturally curly hair ... Yeah, right!

Short hair is very individual and, with the right face, very attractive. But how can you tell if it will work for you?
