AHHHHH - Scared To Get a Cut!

by Michelle
(Raleigh NC )

I have been to many stylists who say they can cut curly hair but really are afraid and have no idea. I've moved to a new city and have not found anyone yet.

What do you do? Trust them and see how they do? Well, the last cut I had (6 months ago) they thought my hair was too thick so they thinned it out at the ends! Ahhhhh! My curls were all diffused. I no longer had ringlets but weak waves.

I have my curls back now but have major split ends because of the thinning.

Trying a new stylist today - we'll see what happens.

Layers are your friend!
by: Leigh-Anne

Long layers: That's the key!

I used to have stick-straight hair, then it went wavy to ridiculously curly. It's taken a while (my mind was still set on straight hair) but I've come to love it.

I go to a generic hair salon because I went to another which charged me $40 for a cut and didn't do much except a blunt cut.

I've gone to these people now for a year (three haircuts worth) and I just tell them to do long layers. They're trained to deal with every hairstyle and have always suggested longer layers to add depth when I straighten and when it's curly.
